We had one of the coldest Halloweens in memory.
A good point. We had only 80 trick or treaters at my place. Usually, we get over 100.
More leftovers in that case.
What may be important is to see how retail sales do for the next six weeks, starting right now.
Yes. Cyber Fortnight is already underway.
The number does bounce around a bit, so not sure how to take 1 month's result. If it stays down, then Fed's interest rate hikes are having an effect.
I can't tell, are retail sales at point of sale stores? Does this include sales on the internet?
How about a graph of retail sales instead of a graph of the change by month? Wouldn't the more correct comparison by year of year (so compare October '23 to October '22, not to September '23?)?
Kevin's graph may be unsatisfying, but he did address year-over-year change in his text.
Someone mentioned that part of the drop in retail sales total could be because gasoline and some other products went down in price. if that's true, it's good news.
