The race to out-Trump Trump is on

The war to become Donald Trump's heir continues apace. Here is Texas:

Employees at the Texas Department of Public Safety in June received a sweeping request from Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office: to compile a list of individuals who had changed their gender on their Texas driver’s license and other department records during the past two years....“We won’t need DL/ID numbers at first but may need to have them later if we are required to manually look up documents.”

Here is Florida:

And South Dakota:

Today, Governor Kristi Noem signed Executive Order 2022-10, which bans the Chinese social media platform TikTok for state government agencies, employees, and contractors using state devices....“South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform.”

“South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “

If the Chinese government is after "intelligence", then they will certainly come up empty looking for it from the state government of South Dakota

“The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people"

Only thing you need to manipulate the GOP in South Dakota is a big fat orange lying piece of shit con artist.

    Condescending or pandering?

Never change Republicans, they’re a lotta fun. I don’t think we’d feel nearly as smart if they didn’t parade the dumb so freely.

What ever happened to the UN invasion plans posted on the back of stop signs all over America by Clinton’s minions? The black helicopters? Obama phones/Benghazi/PizzaGate?

    Oh my Precious Bodily Fluids.

And don't forget that Clinton was coming to take their guns and Obama was coming to take their guns and Biden is coming to take their guns. How many guns do they have?

I wouldn't put the Tik-Tok ban in this category. Tik-Tok collects personal data which may or may not be available to the CCP surveillance state.

After a handful of Biden officials have expressed reservations about TikTok, Noem and 11 other Republican-led states have all restricted TikTok in one way or another. She wasn't even the first.

Is this an overreaction or paranoia? Maybe. But all across Europe, Canada, and the US, intelligence/law enforcement officials have claimed the Chinese are operating police stations within their countries.

Yeah, I was just going to comment that I think the Tik-Tok threat is fairly serious, and banning it for government employees is pretty sound policy.

You may think South Dakotans have nothing, but there are military installations in SD, I think, and they interact with state government employees on a regular basis, I would think.

      1. KJK

I generally agree that Tik-Tok is poses o possible security threat, but stoking xenophobia in the process is the objectional issue. Government employees shouldn't have any social media on their government issued devices, let along Tik-Tok.

I am far more worried about national security risks of our defense contractors, like Lockheed Martin, than I am with South Dakotan's state officials trying to figure out how to get Orange Jesus's face carved onto Mt Rushmore.

Frankly, I think Elmo is doing a better job of being the Donnie Figure than Donnie.

    Compare and contrast -

Don has Truth social, a d-rate side show where people sign up to worship him. Elmo has the real thing (at least until it goes bankrupt).

Even after his recent losses, Elmo is way richer.

Elmo has left a string of spawn behind him much bigger than Don's tiny... hands have managed.

Some of Elmo's companies actually turn a real profit that doesn't come *entirely* from scamming the government. (Just most of it.)

Elmo is the better douchebag, by any measure. It isn't even close.

None of these people have a chance against Trump in a primary. Their best hope is Trump getting indicted so they can feign OUTRAGE!! and run on a platform of pardoning Trump and punishing Democrats.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's compile a list of process servers that Ken Paxton has ducked. The guy seems to be afraid to have his day in court.

    DeSantis committee:

Bret Weinstein: ivermectin is a cure or preventative and vaccines are dangerous.
    Jay Bhattacharya: Great Barrington Declaration
Martin Kulldorff: flu more hazardous to children than COVID, +Barrington

    from dailycaller.com:
    https://dailycaller.com/2022/12/13/ron-desantis-pfizer-moderna-vaccine-accountability-grand-jury/
The panelists and guest speakers present at the roundtable mentioned a number of adverse effects after vaccination. They cited flu-like symptoms and stroke-like symptoms, achiness, debilitating pain and other side effects they believe to have been the result of mRNA vaccines.

"flu-like symptoms and stroke-like symptoms, achiness, debilitating pain and other side effects"

is the happy hunting ground of medical charlatans and faith healers. You see that used frequently in ads for quack pain relievers and energy boosters on late night commercials and talk radio.

    Meanwhile, speaking of TikTok:

The US Senate late on Wednesday passed by voice-vote a bill to bar federal employees from using Chinese-owned TikTok on government-owned devices.
