The Army has finally released a statement about Donald Trump's vulgar and illegal behavior on Monday at Arlington National Cemetery:
New: The Army is now rebuking Trump campaign staff over the Arlington National Cemetery incident.
"Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political…

The Trump campaign's official response is that the Army is lying and the altercation was prompted by an employee suffering a "mental health episode."
Whenever you think Trump can't get any more obnoxious, he does. He and his staff all knew Arlington isn't allowed to be used for political purposes, but they barged in and did so anyway. When a cemetery employee tried to stop them, she was shoved aside and they continued. Really reprehensible.
Obnoxious? Really? That's the first word to come to you to describe this Nazi? (And take a gander at the words and images he posted yesterday in a crazed binge on his failing social media site and tell me I'm exaggerating.) Eddie Haskell was obnoxious. Drumpf is a lot of things, but not (or at least not primarily) obnoxious. Even the much better "reprehensible" at the end fails to do him justice.
i think the word you're looking for is "asshole"
Not really. "Piece-of-shit" is much more accurate.
Shit makes plants grow. Don't defame it with a Trump comparison.
He's a broken, defective copy of a human being. If you ordered a person from wish.com, you'd get Old Man Donny.
a withered, soulless, irredeemable pile of protoplasm.
And we have a winner. 👍👍👍
I've never thought it would be one big thing which would sink Trump. If he is defeated, it will be a death of a thousand cuts. This is definitely one.
Yes, to many of us reading here, this is disqualifying, on its own. So have so many of the things he does, and yet none of them seem to move the electoral needle - much.
The bleeding is definitely starting to affect him, but that doesn't mean we can take it for granted. He's weakening, but still strong yet.
Don't wring your hands, do something.
Captain Bone Spurs doesn't believe any rules or laws applies to him, and that attitude is pervasive throughout his campaign, administration and all of MAGA.
I have no idea what he would be doing at a military cemetery, filled with dead "suckers and losers".
I don't think you understand, Kevin.
Yes, using Arlington Section 60 for a photo op is illegal and disrespecful and crass. Yes, assaulting federal employees in the execution of their duties is a "crime."
But he REALLY, REALLY wanted to do it. Isn't that what really matters here?
It isn't like he wore a tan suit
Were it anyone else media would be screaming "UNFIT TO LEAD," but since it's Trump it's just "yawn, another norm broken." Meanwhile, their focus is on why hasn't Harris done any interviews since her nomination last Thursday and what about her policy specifics. That pisses me off.
I previously read that a cemetery employee was roughly pushed aside and accused of being crazy. Now, I see it reported that the employee happened to be a woman. Not surprising, is it? It would only be surprising to learn next that the campaign official involved was someone other than Corey Lewandowski.
And . . .
The Army won't identify the employee, to protect her from the firehouse of invective from Fox and Newsmax (although the usual ratfuckers are trying to dox her, using footage from Trump's videographers)
And to keep James Comer and Gym Jordan from investigating her for lese majeste.
Trump is a dispicable human. beimg who never misses an opportunity to use people for his own selfish needs. Then who called those who serve in the armed forces suckers and losers and denigrated a war hero like John McCain couldn't give two shits about the people he was supposedly there to memorialize. And the family of the service members should be embarrassed they let him use their loved ones like that.
and who stands in front of a grave flashing a big smile and a thumbs up?
"I'm donald trump, and i approve this casualty"
It's all about him. The dead service members are props in the reality show that is Trump 2024. What I find just as despicable is the family members going along with it. It's a damned cult.
"I'm so happy your child died so I could get this photo op. Great day!"
The Army's reaction is meaningless unless there are consequences. Laws are useless unless they're enforced. Trump and his cult will not be stopped until they are in prison. All the rest is just bloviating.
In the case of Trump, “laws” are just suggestions that he and those who serve him are free to ignore.
Striking how everybody on Earth who isn't Trump has some kind of major disorder.
Lots of current and ex-military are in the tank for trump. They don't care. Why should I get angry for them? Of course trump is blankety blank.
No, be angry for the ones who are upset about this or yourself, ...but you're the guy who cheers on murderers and bigots, so empathy isn't your thing, clearly.
I’ll be sure to light a candle when your hamas friends have their way with you! Empathy indeed. Sometimes you seem to have a death wish. It’s like you don’t the danger around you clearly.
In a not entirely terrible news analysis on the story, the NYT says the question of Trump's respect for military service is "up for debate."
I am at a loss to understand what more we would have to know to settle that question.
Do they mention the various "losers" statements?
In the 9th paragraph, they link to it.
In the 22nd, they quote a Dem rep who mentions it.
In the 13th, they finally mention that cemetery officials warned the Trump team that campaign activities at Arlington were prohibited by federal law.

Thanks.
That is pretty awful. It points away from the main issue (Trump's disrespect of soldiers) to another issue (Trump's foreign "policy").
If that's up for debate so is gravity. FFS what a ridiculous statement.
I must have missed the not-terrible part. I am beyond disgusted with their craven attempts to proclaim, “we don’t have a liberal bias, really we don’t.”
You all know, of course, that the MAGA folks are up in arms about this as well. But they are angry about how a "mentally ill" employee blocked a perfectly reasonable visit and how this is another example of the Deep State working against Trump. Or whatever grievance...
Before his NY trial, pollsters asked Republicans how likely it was that a conviction would affect their likelihood of voting for him. A fairly high percentage (can't recall the exact numbers) said it would have an impact. Post-conviction the polls moved not one iota. Think through all the outrageous things he's done. Not one has had any discernable effect on his support. If you think he's going to lose support over this, I have to wonder where you've been the last 8 years.
If all the people who voted for Biden in 2020 come out and vote for Harris, she will win and maybe, just maybe, Republicans will get tired of chaining themselves to a stone.
We need better than that. TFG has to be utterly crushed, humiliated, driven completely over the edge, or we’ll be stuck with him for goddess knows how many more years.
I don't understand why the families who supposedly invited Trump to this particular section of Arlington chose to pose for photos with Trump, standing behind their fallen members, smiling, and showing a thumbs up.
But in the way of a stochastic terrorist leader, Trump only needs to nudge his followers a wee bit for them to willingly violate the sacred with profane acts, to violate their own beliefs, or to act against their own interests.
I can recall numerous violations of the Hatch Act committed by the Trump campaign in 2020 and everyone pooh-pooing it. Well, if you're not going to prosecute or even slap on the wrist someone who routi8nely breaks such laws as the Hatch Act or the Logan Act regardless of their Constitutional viability(let the courts decide this) then don't be surprise if that person continuously violates said laws, even when its about Arlington Cemetery. He doesn't believe law should apply to him and he acts that way because nobody holds him accountable. What a surprise!
And lets not let the families involved here (I think they were of two fallen soldiers) off the hook. They had no right to violate the rules either. You can see where the fish rots from the head down. They were all in cahoots here to create some sort of phony Memorial event at Arlington to make it look like neither Biden or Harris cared about honoring the dead soldiers from that terrible incident. This was completely staged and someone called them out on it and they don't like it. Instead it backfired. Instead of talking about the topics they want to talk about they're too busy having to answer for this. Good for Harris/Walz, bad for Trump/Vance.
Imagine Walter Mondale in 1984 trying to do something similar with the families of those Marines who were killed in Lebanon by terrorist bombs. Similar situation right? What if the Mondale campaign tried to take advantage of one of the family's grief and turn their deaths into a political attack on President Reagan. You can argue the policy but to argue against a President's sincerity for the fallen soldiers on his watch is pretty sick. That's why Mondale never would do such a thing, because to do so would invite thunderous condemnation from all corners of politics. Unfortunately in this day and age that doesn't exist and thus the Trump campaign feels they can do this and get away with it because Republicans have their back. Luckily the U.S. Army stepped to say what million Republicans will not, that Trump is full of shit.

This is a pretty clear example of what it means to live in an authoritarian state. In a democracy soldiers are citizens who risk their lives in service to the general welfare of the country as a whole. In an authoritarian state soldiers are pawns to be used by the leader in any way the leader thinks will strengthen his personal power.
So, yes, in an authoritarian state soldiers most definitely are suckers and losers (in a cosmic sense) - just like the Russian soldiers dying in Ukraine. Trump's behavior toward the military is when he is most honest. The individual lives do not matter at all to him, and it seems a little strange to him that people would be so willing to die just to make a President look good. But he's definitely going to use that to his advantage!

My dream press would pick one scandal (how about this one?) and just work it until Trump either is proved right or apologizes and people are fired etc.
Nothing is going to stop t-Rump. He doesn’t believing laws or rules. He must win this election, no matter what! His ego won’t take a loss so we’d best prepare for absolute havoc.
