If you're a young lefty who supports the Palestinian cause, it's natural that you'd be critical of Joe Biden. But Summer Jennings is a young Republican who supports Israel:
Though Mr. Biden’s policies may favor Israel, she said she believed that Mr. Trump would take the same approach, but with more muscle: “As much of a jerk as Trump was, I feel like Biden is very weak,” Ms. Jennings said.
I wonder what that even means? It's a little hard to imagine a more muscular support of Israel than Biden's. But then again, Trump blames Iran for starting the whole thing; doesn't whinge on about civilian deaths; and says he'd ban Muslim immigrants and Gaza refugees from the US. So, not just endless bloodshed, but endless bloodshed with no hint of remorse. That's muscular, I guess.
I am often puzzled as to how the hell anyone could fall for an obvious incompetent buffoon and fraud like Trump. But then, people also give money to Kenneth Copeland, so.
I just got paid 7268 Dollars Working off my Laptop this month. And if you think that’s cool, My Divorced cs22 friend has twin toddlers and made 0ver $ 13892 her first m0nth. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so vb-20 much less.
This is what I do……………..> > > https://dailyincome97.blogspot.com/
Somewhere out there someone is falling for the obvious fraud that is behind the spam posing as “MarissaTipton” here. Hard to believe, but true.
“As much of a jerk as Trump was, I feel like Biden is very weak,” Ms. Jennings said. I wonder what that even means?
I can explain it very simply. You remember "Speak softly and carry a big stick?" Well, Trump apparently found that confusing, and got it backwards. And apparently, Ms. Jennings doesn't understand it either, because to her speaking softly is a sign of weakness.
"I do not have a small stick! Look at the size of my hands!"
lol!
What form does the currently soft speaking administration’s stick take?
Within the relevant context I think this would mean spent political capital, generous (illegal) military support and diplomatic cover at the UN.
I guess more muscle would be attacking Iran.
Correct. The remaining neo-cons in the Republican Party like Lindsey Graham have been ranting hysterically that Biden should wipe out all Iran's oil refineries. They will not be happy until they have made Netanyahu's lifelong dream of a war between Iran and the USA come true.
Hamas murdered a bunch of Americans and is holding several more hostage.
When do we hand them the bill for that? Killing Americans in terrorist attacks and holding others hostage needs to have a price tag.
Agreed (sincere).
Let's extract that price from all 2 million Palestinians (sarcastic).
No... but why aren't we going after Hamas and Hamas's financiers instead of wringing our hands over how rough Israel is playing?
Where is the message that killing and kidnapping Americans has negative consequences?
Biden's image is soft indeed. 81 years old, looking it, and no charisma. Image is important. Why does Trump take pains to display a good head of hair, even if it might not be real. Do you think Trump would be as popular if he was bald? Why is being short such a disadvantage when running for president?
Image being the first thing that a person notices, it colors all subsequent perceptions. Many people will never get past that. My theory is that if a candidate passes the image test, then they might listen to what he says. If he doesn't pass it, then it doesn't much matter what he says.
Trump is indeed very careful about his image, so careful that he is now refusing to appear in public with his teenage son Barron. The problem is that the boy is 6'7", and when they stand near each other Donald looks short. And Donald doesn't like looking short.
Akira Kurosawa said as much in the film Sanjuro.
Putin is anti-Israel, so Trump would lean towards dropping support entirely, but he'd probably see how much grovelling Netanyahu would do before pulling the plug.
Wha? Russia and Israel get along just fine. Russia buys drones from Israel; Israel signed an agreement *not* to sell weapons to Ukraine. The two countries allow visa-free travel to each other's citizens, and Israel is a major destination for Russian tourists.
Things have chilled a bit since the invasion of Ukraine, but they are still certainly not enemies. Putin is certainly not anti-Israel. And recall Trump's absolute deference to Israel when he was president. If Putin was anti-Israel then Trump would have handled that differently.
Putin is anti- Israel, but why? Does he really have some reason to be except that he is anti-USA? And if he becomes “our” ally after Trump is installed as President does he care about Israel at all, except perhaps as a place to export Jews to? Which, by the way, is why I think Trump can be pro Israel and antisemitic at the same time.
these people are idiots who think talking loudly and brazenly equates to some sort of strength on the global stage. it's the same mindset that draws morons to trump rallies to watch him babble complete nonsense for hours and then buy a paiting of him with imaginary giant muscles. trump's followers are idiots following another idiot who happens to be a good huckster.
She's just another thoughtless voter, someone who is so comfortable in her own life that she need not care about how her vote affects anyone else on the planet, not even her own future self.
You can't fix stupidity, and America may finally have reached a critical mass of stupidity. I used to wonder how the Dark Ages could've happened, how everyone could've just forgotten everything humans had learned over centuries, and now I have a pretty good idea how.
Come on, we all know what Jennings wants. Same as the rest of the cult.
They want to see Stumpy wave his dick around on teevee while talking about how manly he is and how real Americans shoot pig-blood-drenched bullets and whatever other nonsense.
They get off on that. They used to be happy with Red Dawn and Rambo and such, but since reality TV, apparently like it to feel more like LARPing (but only on their end).
Bluster. It's the bluster and the show, as Ken Rhodes and kahner point out. Two big reasons for this. One is that so much of that side of the aisle is performative and so little is about what actors in the world actually cause to happen. Fulmination for them *is* being strong, because the fulminator says so. And it's entertaining, more fun to watch than is thinking about the effects of what somebody like Biden might be doing and saying, whether for public view or behind the scenes.
Another reason is that so many of us in this country have been trained to read only the surface of how people present themselves, and not to evaluate for ourselves what we think of them and what they're doing. We've been trained to be very literal, to restrict ourselves to the surface. It used to frustrate me no end about so many of my students-- got to the point where I had to be careful not to use synonyms (which I was trained to do back in the day in order to avoid being repetitious) because it would confuse them-- they wouldn't understand that I was referring to the same thing.
Trump gives them bread and circuses, minus the bread.
I like Austin's phrase, America may finally have reached a critical mass of stupidity.
Yes, but....I happened to watch Biden's presser with Zelenskyy, it was painful to watch as he try to walk with zip rather than shuffling like an old man....he continually looked down at those damned white cue cards he carries with him at all times...he speaks haltingly.
I am a very political person but I just don't like hearing him speak...he sounds and looks...WEAK.
Conversely, while typing, I had CNN on and the townhall with DeSantis....he sounds confidant, vibrant...wrong of course, but he sounded very dynamic.
The compare and contrast was right in front of me in real time...I would never vote for DeSantis, but he was the strong person, Biden weak.
Phil Murphy of New Jersey, my preference, but Gretchen Whitmer or many others would be fine...Not Biden, Not Harris.
There you have it. Traveller

Obama, who was much younger, was always criticized for using a Teleprompter. The problem is that the president of the United States can't just ad lib. Each word that comes out of their mouths has weight. Trump, who is a blithering idiot, was the only one who more or less could get away with free riffing, but that was also because he struggled to read what his terrible speechwriters wrote.
Let's go with the obvious. The MAGA's believe that if Trump gets in he will have nukes and he will use them against any brown people who are annoying us.
Raise the Rubble. Turn the Sand To Glass. The Only Good Arab is a Dead Arab (unless he has oil).
Etc., etc. Nothing has changed.
Have none of them ever noticed that he *talks* blood and guts and yes, he's all tough-guy bluster all the time and tells everybody *else* to batter people, but you never actually see him personally *doing* anything that draws blood or could raise a bruise? He brags about killing Soleimani, the closest thing to actually perpetrating violence himself, but it wasn't him who fired the missile.
All I've ever seen him do directly is stalk around Hillary huffing and looming over her (but mostly I suspect so the cameras could show him dominating the space around them-- more about the image than about cowing her, in other words). And all I've ever heard or read about him is that he yells profanities at underlings as loud as he can for as long as he can and throws food off the walls so peons will have to clean up after him.
Dude's really that gunslinger kid in McCabe and Mrs Miller, the one who never actually killed anybody.
But he gives the MAGAs the big talk they want to hear. They want the *talk* of violence, blood, strength, power, righteous rage, fists, bullets, bombs, round-ups. At the same time most of them want their own lives to go on quietly, contentedly, untouched by anything that would bother them or make them feel uncomfortable wherever they are. What they want is all performative and they don't care whether any of it actually happens. They want the theatrical experience and the nest to get back to when the evening's show is over.
We should never forget how much he learned from Vince McMahon.
I've read stuff by Bob Altemeyer and still have a hard time wrapping my head around the thought processes of authoritarian followers. But when Jennings says, “I feel like Biden is very weak,” that probably has nothing to do with Biden's policies. The reason could be nothing more than that Jennings has seen Biden repeatedly called “weak” by people on Fox News, and Biden has, in Jennings' mind, validated that claim by not retaliating against Fox News.
I have seen no commentary regarding Trump's assassination of Soleimani may have removed the strategic constraint on Hamas to attack civilians in Oct. Soleimani is considered the mastermind behind the defenses of Hezbollah and Hamas and one has to wonder if he would have approved of the attack despite the war planners claim Iran was behind it. Trump's outrageous murder of Soleimani was received well by the American public, regardless of their party membership. A cowardly act but one considered strong by the supporters of US overwhelming global military dominance.
That’s like saying that Trump can play air guitar louder than anyone else. Just because he’s Trump.
I'm visualizing Bob Somerby (hi, Bob!!) reading all these responses and putting together another jeremiad against "our blue tribe" and its self-satisfied, self-assured, self-indulgent, total knowledge and understanding about how "they" think.
The full context of what she was saying.
Trump eagerly embraced these oppressive regimes and has himself expressed a desire to remake America into a repressive state. And FFS, Israel's been repressing Palestinians in the West Bank for generations.
I find it ridiculous when the White news media interviews White people on whether they're going to vote for Biden, Trump, someone else, or not vote at all. If you actually think you have a choice, you're probably not Trump's target for extermination or you're too stupid to realize he's coming after you.
Many people who think they don't have a choice are too stupid to realize Trump is coming after them. There's only one person Trump cares about.
True that.
“As much of a jerk as Trump was, I feel like Biden is very weak,” Ms. Jennings said.
I'll use my mind reading skills to translate:
"I'll start with the conclusion that what Trump does is good and what Biden does is bad, and then I'll creatively rationalize my conclusion," Ms. Jennings thought.

The important thing to remember about people who vote for Donald Trump is they are all completely stupid and they think he knows something they don't and that makes him and them clever.
Putin supports the Palestinians so Trump will leave them alone, and he'd withdraw all support from Ukraine in the interest of pretending he's going to have a war with Iran. China would bribe him in some fashion and he'd withdraw from East Asia claiming he's won some kind of victory over the Deep State, and he'd try to jail anyone who objects.
And the people who vote for him will all think he's solved world peace.

Sounds ridiculous, but totally true!
> It's a little hard to imagine a more muscular support of Israel than Biden's.
Oh, come on. If it was Trump, we'd be hearing leaks about how he offered to nuke Gaza and got talked out of it because of the fall out that would reach Tel Aviv.
But then Putin would remind His Boy that he wanted a two state solution, and Trump would be all over Nethanyu demanding an immediate cease fire.
