Congratulations Utes

I guess. I'm not feeling very sportsmanlike right now. I mean, why did Lincoln Riley keep Caleb Williams in the game til the very end? He shouldn't have taken a snap after about five minutes into the third quarter. And did someone put petroleum jelly on our defense's gloves? Alex Grinch has some questions to answer.

Better luck next year, guys. In the meantime, here is Charlie watching the game with us during happier times. Then Charlie left and Utah outscored us 44-7 during the rest of the game. Obviously he knew what was coming.

Had a cat who knew when people were about to die ( really). Charlie apparently knew Trojans were as good as dead. Maybe he could help you beat a gambling website.

For a whole bunch of reasons, that really is a great picture...of Charlie of course, but also and more importantly, a great way to fill the frame. Very nice work!

That’s a shame Caleb Williams got hurt.

I’m an Ohio fan and I wanted USC to get in and TCU get knocked out. (Ohio gets in)

And I’m thinking 48 out of 50 Sates had the majority of their football fans rooting for USC.

The Pac-12, soon to be PAC 10, states were all rooting against USC on principle. Let the Trojans go the Big10 if they want sympathy.

Many college football fans root against private universities football teams like USC and Notre Dame, especially when they play land grant state universities. The Utes, who survived in a simple culture within the limitations of a meager environment, defeating the warrior and colonizing Trojans, representing the elite California lifestyle, perhaps provides a lesson about the consequences of over consumption and the destruction of a beautiful landscape. A landscape now scarred by the homeless who live like the Utes of the past.

“…Many college football fans root against private universities like USC, especially when they play land grant state universities…”

Kinda agree. There are people who just aren’t, on principle, rooting for the UniversityofSpoiledChildren from LaLa land, in the state where every home owner is a millionaire.

Nice. Drive across Utah and it can definitely seem hardscrabble.

Weird that you would say "Ohio" when you clearly mean Ohio State. I can't imagine an FSU or Oregon State fan making the same mistake.

So much for 26 transfer portal players and a new coach and lots of money. So much for the Pac-12 title. So much for the Rose Bowl berth. So much for the CFP. So much for the Heisman. So for the second time this year Utah beat USC. O well.

    1. D_Ohrk_E1

In year one of the Riley era, USC was one win away from the CFP. If that doesn't count for anything, you're not much of a fan of football.

In post-presser, it was revealed that Williams popped his hamstring.

You don't pull the top QB in the nation. He still finished with 384 yards combined. If he was getting sacked b/c he was immobile, Miller Moss would have gotten sacked. Moss is a pocket passer. Williams is a dual threat QB.

Had he not pulled his hamstring, USC probably would have scored a ton of points as they did in the first quarter.

Williams made up for an offensive line that sometimes allows defenders through. But tonight they played w/o one starter and then lost a second, halfway through the fourth quarter.

There wasn't going to be razzle-dazzle from Moss escaping like Williams had shown throughout the season and through the first quarter.

Sometimes, all your offense flows through a player that is unimaginably better than everyone else in the country. And when that happens, your offense is going to suffer, one way or another when he is hobbled by an injury. Stuff happens.

Let me cut this Penix discussion short.

Lower comp %, lower passer RTG, more INTs, fewer passing TDs and fewer rushing TDs, less rushing yards.

Only thing he leads is total passing yards.

Penix is weaker by comparison. Just saying.

I am entirely with Kevin on this...even with me acknowledging that D_Ohrk_E1 knows more about this than I, and probably even Kevin...Be that as it may, this still seems like gross coaching malpractice to me:

    1. When you have a sports injury, you come out of the game, you are hurting your team.
    2. Caleb Williams presumably wants an NFL career...playing hurt only makes the injury worse....and could sideline his entire future
    3. Lincoln Riley is touted as a smart man...but that Kevin and I, 70 miles apart and shouting at the television for a mercy QB substitution...speaks volumes, and...
    4. The only person that came out of this looking good was Charlie who was intelligent enough to walk away.

Not me, I watched the whole sordid mess to the end.

Why is this article about scores instead of the court case the injured player's corporation is about to bring against the university?

My cousin could truly receive money in their spare time on their laptop. their best friend had been doing this 4 only about 12 months and by now cleared the debt. in their mini mansion and bought a great Car.

    That is what we do

  8. bluegreysun

I generally root against USC, and have been cheering TCU kinda on a lark, but USC especially with a healthy quarterback, makes for a much better playoff tournament than TCU. IMO.

Not being a football fan, I'm quietly rejoicing in a second cat photo! Did Sir Charles strike at the tiny running men on the screen?
