The United States will be at close to 1 death per million per day in three weeks' time. The kind of number we haven't seen since March of 2020.
And I hope they stay below that level.
Since we were told it would disappear by Easter.
It’s ironic and tragic that mostly suppressing COVID-19 by Easter was actually an achievable goal. If the USA had a normal president, leading a normal political party, it’s very possible most of the death and economic problems could’ve been avoided. And, the ironic thing is that Trump probably would have been re-elected.
Other countries did it:

Easter 2020!
Cases--MO and VT below 10 new cases a day per 100K, with now sixteen states plus NMI below 10. Only MI above 25 (ca. 31 and falling).
Hotspots: 31 Metro areas (CovidActNow) above 25, with Lewiston, ME at 61 at the top. Over 100 below 10.
I hope Lewiston has learned its lesson.
After all the hue and cry about shipments...

Here some more detail from Reuters on the European Commission’s decision not to renew its order for Covid-19 vaccines with drugmaker AstraZeneca:
And
European Union not renewing orders for AstraZeneca jabs after June
European internal market commissioner Thierry Breton said on Sunday the European Commission did not renew its order for AstraZeneca vaccines against Covid-19 for after June.
The commission last month launched legal action against AstraZeneca for not respecting its contract for the supply of Covid-19 vaccines and for not having a “reliable” plan to ensure timely deliveries.

I'm not sure what the EU wants--nor do they know. They're upset they didn't get it, but they also don't want to use it.
EU in only a few weeks behind US in vaccinations (overall, 30% of adults at one dose--though varies by country: 10-50%: US states range from 32-60%).

I might be mistaken and I’m just reading between the lines but my guess is that we’re going to find out that the EU and maybe France and Germany individually have been negotiating with one of the other drug companies and they’re just going to need enough AZ for second doses and everyone else’s first dose will be the new company.
