Donald Trump and the “threat from within”

Yes, I know all about Godwin's Law. It's worth paying attention to. However, having paid due attention, there's no way to avoid saying that this sounds like Adolf Hitler at a Nuremburg rally:

Trump didn't say stuff like this as recently as a few years ago. Nor did he routinely forget who's president or who he's run against in the past. Is there any serious question anymore about his steadily declining cognitive abilities?

    Someone helped write that post.

    Un-Trumpian words: sinister, grave.
Lawyerly phrases: "whether legally or illegally", "within the confines of our Country"

But I picked up some real-Trump components, so I think it was a joint effort.

Perhaps he's using Hitler's speeches as a style guide. I recall reading that according to one of his wives, he used a collection of Hitler's as his bed time reading.

I imagine the mild-mannered addicted-to-bipartisanship president, in his wildest dreams, never expected to end his political career labelled by Republicans a "Radical Left Lunatic".

    Trump doesn't like to share.

He wants to be Hindenburg, and Hitler.

In any event he doesn't have to have all his marbles.
He doesn't have to be as detail-oriented, or managerial in the least.

That's what the ever-proliferating specialist think tanks and right-wing universities are for. They'll work out the timetables, line up the boxcars, lease land for the camps. They'll make the lists out. There are whole legions of baby Millers out there. Nothing is more dangerous than a careerist in a bad cause.

There'll be plenty of them. There always are.

At least he got right the part about fascists lying and cheating on elections, working to destroy America, and working to destroy the American Dream.

Yep, now if we could only get the lazy right wingers to understand that the nature of fascism is right wing, but FOX and the likes have told them, just as the Nazi Party propaganda machine told the German people, that whatever is bad is leftist or caused by the leftist. Kept it simple black and white, left black, right white, even the least intelligent among them, among us, could wrap their feeble minds around that.

      That is really a smokescreen.

They claim "Building now for a conservative victory through policy, personnel, and training.", but whatthey are building for eliminating democracy, and replacing it by fascism.

Part of the current problem is that some people really believe it is just about "conservative victory", so are not worried about Trump winning as they should be.

"If you're thoughtful about it and show some real awareness of history, go ahead and refer to Hitler when you talk about Trump" - Mike Godwin, December 2015
