Donald Trump’s two-tiered justice

Donald Trump was convicted of a felony last week, but today he got better news. In Georgia, a state appellate court halted Fani Willis's election fraud trial while it decides whether she should be removed from the case. In Florida, judge Aileen Cannon has delayed proceedings once again while she considers a bunch of ridiculous motions offered up by Trump's lawyers.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court can't delay much longer on Trump's claim that he has absolute immunity for any act taken as president. Presumably even the current court is going to rule against him on this, so that will allow the federal election fraud case to get going again.

Republicans like to complain about "two-tiered justice," and they're right—just not in the way they think. Trump has been remarkably successful at delaying his most serious trials by getting conservative courts to spend time mulling over absurdities. At the same time, we know for a fact that the prosecutor in the Hunter Biden case doesn't think the charges against him have much merit—he admitted as much by originally agreeing to a plea deal with Hunter. Nonetheless, Hunter Biden is on trial.

The Democratic president's son gets screwed while the former Republican president gets endless help from his ideological friends—including in cases which are all but open and shut. That's a pretty good example of two-tiered justice.

The gun store committed fraud by leaving the section on the ATF form for ID used to determine address blank, then filling it in in different ink years later, and stating that they probably saw his car registration. Right... They say they were sloppy with the paperwork because they rushed the sale due to Hunter being a Democrat. This store sells thousands of guns, and they admit they don't do the necessary ATF background procedures for spurious reasons.
They, the systemic threat, were immunized to get the junkie that owned a gun for 20 days.

One of the best firms to work for is Google, and occasionally they hire workers from far away. sp Go to the Google Carers area and select the "Work" interface. All you have to do to win money is work directly with this company.Within this user interface https://shorturl.re/7dzpp

As you probably know Mr. Drum, gop “leaders” are now demanding that gop prosecutors indict every Dem they can find. A sample:

“Time for Red State AGs and DAs to get busy,” Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia wrote on the social platform X, formerly Twitter, after a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty.

Influential conservative activist Charlie Kirk urged Republican prosecutors to get “creative” in bringing charges: “Indict the left, or lose America,” he said on X.

“Indict the left” is the new rallying cry. More to come.

Bannon told us Bragg could be targeted using the 14th Amendment (equal protection) and Fourth Amendment (outlawing unreasonable searches and seizures by the government) "plus scores of other" laws.

Bannon told us he wants "investigations to include [Democrats'] media allies."

I assume you’re looking for an answer more profound than IOKIYAR. But the answer really is it’s ok if you a Republican.

Judge orders Steve Bannon to report to prison on July 1 for contempt of Congress sentence

WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Thursday ordered former Trump adviser Steve Bannon to report to prison on July 1 to begin a four-month prison sentence for defying subpoenas from the Jan. 6 Committee after a higher court rejected his appeal.

Bannon was found guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress in July 2022 for defying the committee’s subpoenas, but his sentence had been put on hold while he appealed the case. U.S. District Judge Carl said Thursday he did not believe that the “original basis” for his stay of the imposition of Bannon's sentence existed any longer after an appeals court upheld Bannon's conviction. Bannon could still appeal Nichol’s ruling that he must report to prison.

H Biden's firearms charge is loaded with irony. Here's a couple of rhetorical questions:

    1) How many 2nd Amendment diehards have ever lied on a form 4473?

    2) How many 2nd Amendment diehards own firearms they've bought on the sly so they aren't registered in any way?

The point is that the GOP has hauled Biden into court and charged him with crimes that a substantial fraction of their base has committed.

"Irony" is a funny way to spell hypocrisy.

Personally, I'd love it if we sent the Justice department after every gun owner who has broken the law. But, much like the outcry over IRS investigations, the right would flip out, because they're the ones breaking the law most often.

Clearly, up and coming criminals should all join the Republican Party. If you can make yourself indispensable to the GOP, the GOP will make your criming all but legal by making it politically unprosecutable .

Good idea for an ad campaign: 'If the government can prosecute the President's son for owning a gun, they can take yours too!!!'

And if NY cancels trump's concealed-weapon permit soon, as expected, they're really going to be enraged.

Since the man doesn't even drive a car, & prefers golf to other activities, it hadn't occurred to me that he owned a firearm, given his ability to hire guards at his properties..But knowing his gun permit has been taken surely means he won't be committing murder on Fifth Avenue.

Bless you, Kevin, for saying what our vaunted mainstream media dare not say. I fries my ass every day that the delays in these 3 trials are not themselves a big story. What's that you say? How can something that *doesn't* happen be a news story? Simple: just cover what is *significant* rather than what is just *new*. It would be great to see something like "Day 237 since Trump indicted for stealing Top Secret documents. No trial date yet."

The Republican party is a criminal conspiracy to legalize and institutionalize crime so as to make it untouchable, to make society's checks and balances always amenable to threats, bribery and violence.

This is why they do everything they do.

Doubt if Trump owns any guns. Golf and power are his ownly hobbies. He has lotsa minions (who are reportedly fine people) with guns he can call upon if the situation arises

      1. KawSunflower

He does have a permit to carry a cncealed firearm in NY, & it has been reported that it is expected to be canceled soon. Didn't see anything about having to wait until all appeals are over!. Forgot where I saw this, so don't have a link ready.

"...At the same time, we know for a fact that the prosecutor in the Hunter Biden case doesn't think the charges against him have much merit—he admitted as much by originally agreeing to a plea deal with Hunter. ..."

This is ridiculous, most cases are resolved by plea deals. You could just as well say Hunter Biden acknowledged the charges against him had merit by agreeing to a plea deal.
