Friday Cat Blogging – 16 September 2022

Here is brave Sir Hilbert fleeing from the silent approach of the Gray Knight, whose tail you can see sticking up above the tall grasses. The backstory is simplicity itself: Hilbert and Charlie were playing over in our neighbor's yard and Charlie decided to sneak up on Hilbert—one of his favorite activities. Hilbert, as usual, was caught unaware and leaped away to safety.

(Yes, this means that I'm experimenting with letting Charlie out again. So far it's going OK. Both cats like it: Charlie because he gets access to a vast new playground, and Hilbert because he once again has a ringleader that he can follow around and have fun with.)

About time we saw more proof-of-life shots; when I want to see a sleeping cat, there's one at my feet.

Next week: Charlie & Hilbert standing, in a battle of paws?

Do I always have to be the one to drag out the obvious, lame joke? …..

Brave Sir Hilbert: I feel a disturbance in the force. But I don’t see anyone. Who’s there? Show yourself!

Knight Charlie: Nobody’s here, brave sir, but us harmless cattails.

Get it?! All we can see is Charlie’s tail. …. In the tall grass …… (crickets) C’mon, work with me here.

    Brave Sir Hilbert ran away.
    Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Hilbert turned about
    And gallantly he chickened out.
    Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Hilbert!
