Friday Cat Blogging – 26 November 2021

It is Hilbert's turn for catblogging this week, but it's difficult to get a proper picture of him these days. Charlie follows him around everywhere, something that Hilbert is only slowly getting used to. In any case, here is Hilbert in the sewing room being photobombed.

I hope not, Thanksgiving foods are not a good idea for dogs and cats, the vets are overloaded on Black Friday from pets fed food to rich and end up sick or sneak food they should eat and then get sick.

    **************SEVERELY OT*******COVID********
So, we have a new variant of concern?
One that has already caused air travel restrictions from 8 nations in Africa.,
    It evades vaccine protection?

    Gee, what happens now?
800+ point drop from fear of what this variant may do?

    Post infection immunity sucks
    Vaccine immunity sucks
    Combined immunity sucks
    Herd Immunity sucks

Our T cells won;t know how to respond to this one it seems

This is NOT OVER. Not by a long shot.
No need to worry about breakthrough cases because to THIS VARIANT everyone will appear to have no protection anyway.

We are our own worst enemy

Speak8ng of being our own worst enemy, The Post keeps wasting space on old Doonesbury & Peanuts strips, while I keep thinking it would be better used to bring back Pogo & Calvin and Hobbes for the younger generations.

What's space when it's all virtual? I stopped getting the print edition four years ago and just subscribe to the digital edition. They have over 50 comics linked to online.

Reading so much O/L happens to be impossible for me now; in addition, I give my used Post to neighbors die their recent hardships & medical issues. The subscription also extends O/L access to an old friend living far away, so I don't feel too guilty about the print edition despite the need to recycle the wrapper & manage to provide a monthly carrier tip.

That was supposed to be "due to" - further evidence that more screen time isn't for me as a result of 5 operations, four on one eye.

A new variant?? Same Ole variants. Nothing more than hype. Also notice the Northeast/Midwest case count surge was flattening by Pre-Thanksgiving. hmmmm, maybe it's time to defund spending. No more tests. No more research. Would anybody notice or care??? Just some old people croaking.

Hmmm. Hilbert doesn’t look particularly happy.... We had a situation like this some years back when we brought a new kitten home. The elderly alpha cat went bullshit and the kitten chased her all over the house. She would be startled and pee all over the furniture. Almost took him back to the shelter, but they sorted it out with a change in the alpha role.... Took a while though

    On the Covid topic….

I’m so completely over all the people who think they should run all over the world on vacation or whatever right now.

The delta came from India. Maybe this other one comes from South Africa.

Really now… stay the fuck home!

This the quintessential essence of Cat image. I love it. Hilbert will be fine...with time, (it even rhymes....lol).

Hilbert is both startled and jealous of the vitality of Charlie...as are all of us when confronted with the exuberance of youth that we now so often lack.

(Wisdom is nice, but youth is nicer) {I don't know if that is true...but I am trying on the phrase like a garment, to see if it fits).

    Best Wishes, Traveller

Thinking of the Ogden Nash rhyme:
      “Candy is dandy
      But liquor is quicker.”

      How’s this:
      Wisdom is useful
      But I’d rather be youthful.

I believe that Hilbert misses his sister & may not comprehend why Hopper has a small gray replacement, however respectful Charlie may be.

Since folks would rather talk COVID than kitten, on Friday morning the news was about the new "nu" variant. By evening, it was the "omicron" varient. Did someone suddenly realize that Americans would assume "nu" meant "new", because they don't know the Greek alphabet?

    1. KawSunflower

Those people are most likely the ones who deny the existence of variants & why they thrive - like our resident troll, above.

And no, they don't know the Greek alphabet, but then their use of English leaves something to be desired.
