A few months ago I was roaming around one of the semi-rural areas of Orange County (i.e., zoned for horses and other critters) and took a bunch of pictures of some turkeys. They were mostly pretty meh except for this one, which highlighted the concentric rings on this handsome bird. Gobble gobble.
I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving. At least for a day, just relax and ignore the imminent end of civilization as we know it, OK?
Happy Thanksgiving Kevin and fellow jabberwockers.
I understand that you can find the age of the turkey by counting the rings.
One turkey ringy. Two turkey ringies... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffxVap-1L1Y
And a very Happy Thanksgiving to all.
One of the best things about this time of year is the Forest Service permit that allows me to go into the mountains, where nature doesn’t give a hoot about the supply chain, to cut down my Christmas tree tomorrow. (Yes, only certain sizes/types in certain areas where the forest needs to be thinned.) we have set a record in Denver for having no snow this late in the year, but I still love the holidays!
Decided to check back, but still no pic of Hilbert & Charlie sharing a Thanksgiving Day meal - or at least eating side by side. Still cohabiting peacefully, I hope.
I hope this one got a reprieve. Thank heavens I don't eat turkey anymore!
Pretty bird! I'm guessing it's not the usual commercial turkey. Mine will go into the bag, then into the oven in an hour or so, and as always, we hope for the best.
A quick follow up: the turkey turned up good. We got an incredible amount of broth out of it (the bag captures it nicely.) As noted, there were no shortages in our neck of the woods, and the bird was a mere 59c /lb.
High-security enclosure. This must be a dangerous bird.
That bird's the collector for the QANON Shaman's Santeria sacrifice menagerie.

“imminent end of civilization”?
Wait, did the Lions win?
No. They did not.
Close, but no cigar.
Well, I might have, until you felt compelled to remind us 🙂
Come to Arcadia where we have plenty of peacocks walking the streets!
Very friendly and much more attractive 🙂
Those living next to my relatives in southern Virginia are very loud & very aggressive; how can yours be so different?
Because they are California Culture peacocks! They come from a culture of "whatever" rather than an honor culture.
Happy Thanksgiving! I have managed to spend the whole day so far ignoring the liberal plan to destroy America and subject us all to totalitarian dictatorship, and will continue to do so until tomorrow.
