Charlie isn't the only cat around here who likes to hide in the backyard bushes. Hilbert likes it too, but he has a harder time since he's bigger and less camouflaged than Charlie. Plus, to be honest, he doesn't seem to be trying really hard, does he?

Camouflage, scamouflage. All that matters is whether the birds can see The Big H. I, for instance, have been told that I am a bird brain. So all I see in that picture are leaves. When did this become Friday Leaf Blogging? Where’s the cat? I do hope that Hilbert, wherever he is, catches whatever it is that he wants.
…. If he was in that picture
….. which he ain’t.
…. Nope. No cat here.

Actually, I don’t think he is trying all that hard. In fact, I’ll bet he just woke from a nap….because he heard his food bowl rattle.
C'mon KD, cats are naturally crepuscular: they hunt at dawn and dusk which gives them a total (depending on how far from the equator they are) of about 4 hours hunting time per day. And in the relative gloom to darkness of dawn and dusk, Hilbert's colouring is great.
And that's why cats sleep nearly 20 hours per day, too.
What matters is being at least *relatively* hidden. My late black-and-white cat would camp out for a nap in some shrubby foliage where she'd be mostly hidden, and certainly entirely hidden from any raptors that might pass overhead. She could see out from her hideaway, while not being particularly obvious on first glance from near ground level.
Anyone claiming to not see Hilbert has simply been hypnotized by those eyes. Such a handsome fellow!
