   I have had pet cats for decades and I only recently learned that closed or slitted eyes is a sign of friendliness in a cat. They also love it when you half close your eyes and will visibly relax and sometimes come towards you when you slit your eyes. It is really weird how strong a reaction I have gotten from my cats since I learned this.

   Kevin - your photography is quite good and for someone on the East coast who is not at all familiar with all the locations you shoot I find California MORE than slightly dis-orienting due to its size.
   I know a shot of the shore or the pacific means I'm facing west but the museums and such? Is there a way you can show a street map (or link to it) that we could view? There's a pic that shows Orange county suburbia near UC Irvine. Facing which direction? How about "view east of orange county......."
