Yesterday we had a bunch of city workers on the street outside our backyard, and they had lots of machines that made loud noises as they dug up the roadway. This is why Hilbert looks a little startled in this picture. He wanted to play in the backyard, but he wasn't really sure about all the snorting and clanking. In the end, he decided to come back indoors and just gaze out the open door, where he'd be safe from whatever all those people were doing.

Humans should only be allowed to make all their awful noises when it's NOT nap time (at least, that's what my cats always tell me).
He may be startled, but he never seems to lose his composure.
It was a Snort!
This is where The Big H learns to appreciate that he has such a loving sanctuary…. Maybe
Classic cat. You always know when a neighbor is using a blower because both our cats show up inside.
Hillbert is more self assured than my (former) cats. When workmen showed up, they would vanish. Possibly under beds, maybe in closets -- who knows? And they wouldn't show up again for food, water, and the litteer box until things had quieted down for awhile.
