It's been quite a week. On Monday everything seemed fine: no fevers, no neurological symptoms, no nothing. So I was discharged from the hospital. The next day I had my last visit to the day hospital, with no problems.
After that I had a final consult on Friday, so we hung around the hotel for the next couple of days. But then things went south. On Friday morning I noticed some weakness on the right side of my face, and I was so tired I could barely get out of bed. I had to be wheelchaired around, and when the doctor saw me he immediately re-admitted me to the hospital.
The good news is that an MRI came up clear, so the face weakness isn't due to a stroke or anything like that. And today I'm still weak but I feel better. Overall, though, I gotta say this CAR-T treatment has been a real kick in the ass.
hang in there Kevin. I hope you feel better soon.
Google paid 99 dollars an hour on the internet. Everything I did was basic Οnline w0rk from comfort at hΟme for 5-7 hours per day that I g0t from this office I f0und over the web and they paid me 100 dollars each hour. For more details visit

Thanks for the update. Glad you're taking care of yourself.
Glad it's not a stroke, Kevin! Hopefully this will all be a faint memory soon. Best wishes!
Don't say "faint memory"; the doctors will admit Kevin again and hit him with another round of the Evil Dex.
Sorry to hear that you were hospitalized again- perhaps your body was sensing that you needed to stay in the area after being discharged! And your doctor would probably have checked you for Bell's Palsy, if there had been enough symptoms to suggest that.
Hope that you can relax, get enough rest. As long as you have faith in your doctors & don't ignore/dismiss any untoward developments when you're hack home, it sounds as if you've weathered the first treatment phase well.
Be well, stay well - think I remember the book in which that phrase appears. Marian, Hilbert, & Charlie will be taking good care of you, good for your spirits.
The CAR-T trreatment really is giving you a run for your money. Your body is definitely responding to it. This would seem to be a good thing. Glad you're home. Hopefully on the mend from now on.
I guess it is a good thing. The modified cells are on the scene, yelling at Kevin's immune system, "You've got a massive problem here! Get to work cleaning out these bad apples!"
Kevin, this is all so typical of CAR-T treatments. I hope that this is a good sign that the T cells are working well and that upon recovering from this difficult phase you will be in good health and MM-free.
We all rely on your posts so thought that things had turned difficult this past week. So glad to read that you are well enough to post again!
dear heaven!
The covid vaccinations, and a shingles vaccination, I had over the past couple of years practically killed me and this sound like it must be exponentially worse.
Chin up, KD!
Oh dear. Well, I guess that’s better than a kick in the nuts. In this case, focus on the destination and not the journey. ..I hope Marian is bearing up under all of this.
Some of us were getting a little nervous about the continued 'silence' KD, so glad to hear things are getting back on track.
So sorry to hear that. Hope it means it will be a 100% success. Hang there as brighter days await you! Thank you for the update as I suspect many of us were concerned.
Thanks for the update. I hope next week is much better.
Kevin, please take the time to heal and get better. As greedy as I am for your take on the world, I can wait. Your faithful reader.
The evil Dex was not walk in the park either.
Best wishes, Kevin. I hope the treatment is kicking the cancer’s ass and yours just got a little in the way.
It is such a fine line to walk, to utilize the immune system but without triggering inflammation and an indiscriminate attack on cells on the one hand, and avoiding attenuation that would negate its intended goal on the other hand.
Still, it's such a remarkable method to get your own body to recognize the cancer cells and wipe them out. Maybe one day we'll have cancer vaccines.
Get well.
Whew! We were all a bit nervous. Hang in there Kevin. Things will smooth out. Sending you the very best.
Hang in there Kevin -- hope you get back to feeling 100% very soon!
Strong medicine for strong healing. Hope you are on the right end of the equation very soon.
Hang in there, Kevin.
Get better, Kevin Drum. The intertubes need you.
Get well dude. You are the only blog type website I read anymore.
And to share the pain. Developed a rash on Wed, needed meds refreshed, so I hit a clinic on Thurs. Clinic thought scabies, maybe. Friday, definitely not scabies, as it exploded (blotchy, purplish rash all over legs, lighter on arms and hands), so off to the ER I went. Had a rough Thursday night, pulse running high, shivers but no temperature. I should have gone to ER then but the ER is like supposed to be when you are on death's door, right....
The ER discovered pneumonia. I had no idea, so apparently I had the walking kind. One of the ER docs scared the F out of me, left me thinking I had permanent lung damage, and who knows what else. Still waiting on labs to know more but the on-staff pulmonologist said "it may take awhile but I should get full lung functioning back".
Anyways, I spent the weekend at the rich person's hospital in these parts. Going home today but my insurance is really good (ER is $100+deductible), it'll even cover me if someone is out-of-network, so, hopefully the financial damage will be light.
Anyways, sitting here bored, so figured I'd leave a mark on the internet.
Good that you have both good medical assurance & medical insurance; wish everybody did!
