I knew a guy in the early 90s who routinely wore shorts, wool socks, and Birkenstocks. He was a handsome guy and he worked out so he made the look work. I'm not sure it would work for everyone.

On the other hand, I believe this fashion choice has been working in Germany for about 50 years now . . . maybe longer.

Some of your followers here may have long suspected this, Mr. Drum.

And as for German fashion standards, maybe their socks & sandals are just the ticket when they accessorize lederhosen.

But all is forgiven if you post a nice pic of your feline siblings together.

I have never worn sandals. On the other hand, I almost always wear deck shoes unless I have to dress up for some occasion.

My kids used to give me a ration about wearing socks with my deck shoes in the summer, when I was wearing shorts. So we compromised--I only wear white cotton athletic socks with shorts, and they acknowledge that my sweaty feet stink when I don't wear socks, so I'm OK now.

Then again, perhaps it's because once I passed 3/4 of a century they figured it was hopeless to try to change me.

We need more details! Do the sox need to be white, or color coordinated with some other garment? Is white verboten? What about length? Anklet? Knee? Low-slung athletic, that barely peeks above (a normal shoe)? What kind of nether garment is permitted? Shorts? Long pants? Something in between? Skirts?

How can we be fashionable without knowing all the rules?

    KD-
You will only be cool is the socks are slightly mis matched
And you are also wearing striped shorts with a plaid shirt
