This is a frozen lake near Aspendell, about a dozen miles west of Bishop. Or maybe it's a reservoir. I don't remember. It's labelled "Intake Two" on Google, which sounds kind of man-made, doesn't it?

I would love to think that the inhabitants who first encountered European explorers knew this lake as Intake Two. And if they did, we ought to respect that! And the lovely lake-ness of Intake Two.
Could be for drinking water, but sounds like a cooling water reservoir for a power plant....
OK, not cooling water....

It does have a dam, and the water from the lake goes through a long pipe to the Edison Bishop Creek Plant 2 hydroelectric station. I don't know if the lake's 2 is reflective of the plant's 2, or if Plant 2 has two intakes, and this one is the second one.
I was thinking geez what's all that stuff in the air, then I realized it was the mountainside in the background.
The blue really works.
