Every year I take a picture of a local rabbit. Usually it's a rabbit hopping around my neighborhood, but this year it's a rabbit in the far wilds of Laguna Beach. So here it is: the 2021 Rabbit of the Year.

Leaping leporids that bunny is cute
Looks like a desert cottontail.
Are those dark spots in its ears parasites?
That is a Jackrabbit, though it’s really a hare. The ears and the short front paws give this away.
But is it large enough for hasenpfeffer? ...
Fun fact that I learned last year from personal experience: Seattle, Washington is positively overrun with rabbits. They're everywhere (and yes, I'm talking about within the city limits, no suburbs).
re: overrun with rabbits
Many years back, my parents had to put a low chicken wire screen around their garden, to keep out the innumerable rabbits. It worked just fine, but the deer stepped over the fence as if it wasn't even there.
"not" suburbs
Well, I think this a great picture...Orange County must be different than urban Los Angeles...I will NEVER see a wild rabbit....lol
Could you maybe tell us a little how you did this/ Are you lying on your stomach? Super long lens setting? Where was this shot? A park? A wet lands?
I remain so envious.
