That damned song has been stuck in my head for over half a damned century, along with many other godawful songs of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Romance? It's a quaint, sometimes a bit tacky... And it's a great place to take the kids, they love it! If that counts as romance to you.
Please excuse my ingratitude, but it sure looks flat. Might this be a job for the new drone-camera? A different perspective?

The last (and first) time I was on Catalina Island was Caltech frosh camp, September 1974.
I think Santa Cruz Island is more interesting.
