I find the spotlights particularly hilarious. Anywhere else and I'd surmise their neighbors hate them, but not here. There are probably services every Sunday out front.

John Wayne gave me a wave like that once as I passed his house in Newport. Almost looks like a statue of Reagan, though.

We laugh, but for Republicans, a b-list actor with Alzheimer’s is hands down the greatest Republican President in the past half century.

... And sadly, they may be right:

1969-74 Richard Nixon, fairly smart and competent, but unfortunately paranoid and criminal; escaped impeachment by resigning.

1974-7 Gerald Ford, universally berated; served only a partial term. Apparently a nice guy.

1981 Ronald Reagan, wanted to shrink government, dump the poors and middle class, fluff the rich; significant foreign policy criming.

1989 George H.W.Bush, Reagan without the charisma or dementia.

2001-2009 George W. Bush, intellectual lightweight under the spell of neocon svengalis; halfway decent painter.

2017-2021 He who must not be named; one of the nation's top con men and petty criminals; tried to establish self as dictator
