Lunchtime Photo

You might be tired of us Californians going on and on about our recent storms, as if a few feet of snow is some kind of otherworldly miracle. And it's true that if I wanted pictures of snowy peaks I could just hop in my car and drive north to Shasta or east to the Rockies and take all the pictures I want.

But I don't feel like doing that right now, and I do have snowy peaks right here at home. So here's a triptych of snowy peaks in the San Gabriel mountains after our megastorm last weekend.

I like how the snow acts as a vessel to store the water and releases it only a bit at a time.

Next best thing to the weekly inch of rain we get in the Great Lakes states.

Not in LA, not unless you count "a bit at a time" as "gone within a week"!

Over the weekend the San Gabriels were indeed gorgeous. But today it's back to bright sun and their usual snowless selves (as made familiar in ten million movies and TV shows -- if you see some unassuming mountain in the background of a Hollywood movies, they're probably the San Gabriels).

The slow-er release will fill our water table but I don't know if that's especially important to LA. It's snow and rain that fills the inland reservoirs and water table that seems to matter a whole lot more.

I’m currently generating over $35,100 a month thanks to one small internet job, therefore I really like your work! I am aware that with a beginning cdx05 capital of $28,800, you are cdx02 presently making a sizeable quantity of money online.

Not if you want to continue to have snowy peaks in Shasta or the Rockies.

I've taken pictures if the snow-topped mountains over the last week:
Right after storm, clouds still obscuring the ridge line
    Next day is good.
Day after that, haze has already built up, considerably diminishing the view. Some of it is smog but mostly it's non-automobile activity in a county of 10 million.
Another small storm cleans the air (Sunday)
    Monday was good.
    Tuesday. Unfortunately haze is back.

Do you go up to Angeles National Forest to do photos? That was a great place to visit, outside of summer.
