This is a bright white clapboard house on the Eastern Shore of Virginia across the Chesapeake Bay from Richmond. It's on Highway 13 about an hour north of Norfolk. The setting sun provides a beautiful warm light, though only for a few minutes before everything sinks into shadows.

Um, Richmond is a fair distance from the Chesapeake shore
It is some distance, but interestingly, Kevin's reference is not totally foolish. His estimate of an hour north of Norfolk puts him around Nassawadox, VA, which is on approximately the same latitude as Richmond. If he said "across the Chesapeake Bay from Deltaville" that would likely have been meaningful only to a lucky few of us who have spent our lives around the Chesapeake Bay. BTW, I'm guessing that house in the picture is in or near Nassawadox. It's very typical of that area of the Eastern Shore.
Nassawadox is notable for one thing that has attracted me to stop there many times on my way North or South on U.S. 13. That's Little Italy Ristorante. I've had many a fine Italian dinner there that would not be at all out of place in a big city Italian trattoria.
I've witnessed 13 or 14 (can't remember the count since I was a toddler for some of them) Assateague Pony Runs. Camped primitive on Assateague among those ponies and crabed the backwaters of Chincoteague. OC, MD has many memories. Trained in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virgina Beach. Love the area and it's been formative for me. Now to get the "Admiral" to sign off retiring there.
Yes it's a curious point of reference but Kevin is does not live in Virginia or even on the East Cost. Most folks would have said VA Eastern Short and referenced how far south it was of the MD border.
