This is a glass thingamajig at the Istanbul Home shop on the Balboa peninsula. I don't think it has any function. The shop is full of these things, and they seem to be purely decorative.

Probably some treasure looted from the Ottoman Empire

I've got several of those as holiday gifts from small importers over the years. Some are just hanging glass thingies, but some have lights wired into in them, and I'm reasonably sure the origin is lamps -- oil lamps, candles, what have you. I like hanging ones, but they also come on stands.

Right. That's what Taylor Swift wants us to believe.

That is a turkish light/lamp. Now that I know there is an Istanbul Home Shop on Balboa, I'll be there this weekend 🙂 There's another similar shop on the main drag of Laguna Beach that I've been dragged out of one more than one occasion. For the real aficionados, Santa Barbara is THE place with the fresh Lokum store.

Wish I could post a photo response, from a lamp store in Plano, TX.
