This is a deserted cabin in the shadow of the Eastern Sierra between Mammoth Mountain and Mono Lake. It may be abandoned, but that doesn't mean it can't still be picturesque.

Wow, is that all like mono salt from the lake?
A while ago when some issue about the rss feed came up someone here recommended Feedbro, and, I want to say it is an excellent way to read Kevin's blog.
When you look at his latest post in Feedbro it automatically expands the photos and charts to their real size, which look fantastically better, this image in particular, which I am preserving in case nothing but this room and my mono-salted skeleton survives the apocalypse.
I believe that's what's colloquially known as, "snow."
snnnnnn --oh.
Doesn't ring a bell.
Great place for a relocation camp.
How can you be sure that the cabin is abandoned?
When we first moved here, my wife and I bought some property. There was a derelict house on the adjacent land. One day as were working out the details with our realtor, he casually mentioned that the seller was living in her grandmother's house next door. We both thought, "Wait a minute--there's someone living in that house?!?"
Such is life in Appalachia.
The Eastern Sierra, from say Independence all the way up to Gardnerville (in NV) may be the most picturesque part of an especially picturesque state.
I'm a big fan of the north coast and redwood country myself, but the Eastern Sierra is right up there.
With all of the sagebrush, the eastern slope is certainly one of the best smelling places on the planet.
This really is a wonderful image...(I've been too busy reading your UFO post and comments to get back to this...this is good, but also was the UFO piece...which was important to me since I knew I would agree with your take on this....and I need someone I trust to explain it to me.
Best Wishes, Traveller
