As you read this, Marian and I are over the Atlantic Ocean on the way home. It's goodbye to Austria.
This is a gelateria store at Schwedenplatz on Sunday night. It's crowded because it was Pentecost and everyone had Monday off. It also happened to be the night I worked up the energy to haul my camera around for a few hours to take some nighttime pictures of the city.
Nice picture! Sitting in my Vienna Hotel at the moment after two days of walking the City. Hope to wander with my camera tomorrow night after the Mozart concert. Train to Krakow Saturday morning..
Welcome home!
One of the best things about old imperial capitals is how they pulled in great food from all over. It's of course unlikely that this gelateria goes back anywhere near that long, but just thinking about Vienna desserts is a Pavlovian dream. Hope you were able to sample a few--
I was going to say you'd be going over the Arctic Ocean, but turns out, just North Atlantic (and over southern tip of Greenland and Canada)...

Thanks for checking -- I was wondering that, too.
Behold! The power of the Great Circle, and ETOPS.
That said, are there direct flights from Vienna to LAX, or will there be a connection. Say in Frankfurt.
Interesting factoid about Austria: everyone sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"gelateria store" is like saying smartphone phone.
Oh, go back to your shrimp scampi 🙂
Hmph. I will take my espresso coffee and leave this boulangerie bakery!
It all works great until, you know, some hacker decides to target it.
“For more than two weeks, thousands of medical personnel have turned to manual methods after a cyberattack on Ascension, one of the nation’s largest health systems with about 140 hospitals in 19 states and the District of Columbia. The large-scale attack on May 8 was eerily reminiscent of the hack of Change Healthcare, a unit of UnitedHealth Group that manages the nation’s largest health care payment system.”
