Apologies for dropping the ball on this. I had to make an urgent IT house call on my mother, so I spent the afternoon in Garden Grove. But it's not too late to catch up now with Donald Trump's racism fest at Madison Square Garden.

    It seems to me that trying to convince people that Harris is stupid is about as futile as trying to convince people that Trump is thin.

      i think you're underestimating the whole racism thing. they don't even think non-white people are real people, let alone intelligent.

    I dunno, maybe it's just me but one would think that if your opponents are trying to label you as fascists you don't have a rally that confirms everything they say.

      At this point in the game, Trump just doesn't care anymore. He's tired of restraining himself and the people around him. This is the true MAGA movement in all its putrid glory.

    this rally seems to be purposely reminiscent of the 1939 nazi rally at MSG. it's 2024 and we're having a nazi rally in new york city again. history rhyming never seemed so horrific to me.

        Unless he is replaced, his movement will go back to being closeted homophobes, racists, misogynists and over all bigots. What they say out loud now will go back to being whispered while looking over their shoulders. It's like a herpes flare up. We will never be rid of the worst of humanity because there are so many of us that are inhumane when given the opportunity to express it openly.

        I'm not so sur that's true. Fascism must have a central, charismatic leader who takes on the identity of the nation, becomes the incarnation of an idealized, "pure" national identity. Except for a very small collection of misfits, Nazi movement died with Hitler. Italian fascism died with Mousseline. Etc. You think J Divan Vance is going to pick up the mantle? Not going to happen. As Josef, below, said, all that racism, sexism, homophobia - all those worst human instincts that fascism exploits to gain power - will go underground again. Not disappear, but no longer empowered enough to be called a movement.

    I am reminded of that time when a Telemundo interviewer pwnd Stephen Miller.

    There are a lot of White men who are scared of being shown to be inferior to women and people of color. Trump, Miller, and Tucker are at the top of that list.

      To be sure, pwning is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. Stephen Miller fans (of which I would hope there are vanishingly few) would probably see it the other way.

    Letting RFK Jr run wild, would could possibly go wrong? Jesus H. Christ what's next? What could possibly be worse than RFK Jr making rules on healthcare, food and drug safety? Tucker Carlson as head of the C.I.A.? Or worse yet, that sniveling creep Stephen Miller? Or as I like to call him, the dime store, second rate Joseph Goebbels knock off.

      People keep comparing Miller to Goebbels. Personally I think that his mentor is Reinhard Heydrich, the man Hitler called “The Man with an Iron Heart”. Heydrich organized Kristallnacht and was directly responsible for Einsatzgruppen, and chaired the group responsible for The Final Solution. If Miller gets his way we can expect a “Final Solution” with regard to immigrants.

        Out of all the people Tump has surrounded himself with, Stephen Miller has got to be the worst and most Nazi like. Tucker comes in a close second.

    This is so bizarre. These people are unconnected to reality and just don’t care. They just want to let their freak flag fly. The speakers get off on saying wild things and the crowd enjoys the outrage. It’s like they are running Don Rickles as a candidate. The more atrocious stuff that is said the better. Each speaker has to one-up the previous speaker in order to be effective.

    It would be fine if they just held rallies and made speeches but some people will actually vote for these clowns. Unbelievable.

      It's like we are living in a really disturbing twilight zone episode. One where some of our fellow humans true nature is portrayed in all its ugliness.

    Tucker Carlson's Maine studio is not far from here.

    The talk of non-stop protests has been entering conversations with my neighbors; and the neighbors I've asked have heard the notion from others.

    Not to mention the continued visits from right-wing MAGATS and the building up of local losers into 'legends,' it's all quite despicable.

    If anyone decides to act on the talk, I'll photo it for Kevin to share.

    But I do know one thing: there are several local businesses where he is no longer welcome.
