States I have never visited:
- Alaska
- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- North Dakota
- Vermont
I'm planning to cross Louisiana off the list later this year. Maybe I'll pop over to Mississippi while I'm there. Vermont and Alaska are both pretty, so they could be targets of photography expeditions someday.
But what about North Dakota? What excuse will I ever have for visiting Fargo?
Theodore Roosevelt National Park in ND is lovely.
My vote too.
Drove through ND this summer, west to east! TRNP is indeed worth the trip. Fargo isn't bad either. Nice river and cute downtown. They make beer there as well.
My partner informs me that because you are not unique, North Dakota actually has a special swag package they give if it really is 50 of 50.

fantastic
I am only missing two.
One is Alaska which is understandable. But the other is Kentucky. Somehow i have managed to drive just past almost all its borders but never quite in it . Should have crossed over when I was in Cincinnati a couple of times.
Have tried to get a connecting flight thru KY a few times but could not find one.
But two of my states are just driving there when i was nearby and stopping and walking around a few minutes - OK and MN. And MN was when I was spending a few days in ND.
Now I regret not going to KY or Alaska as not sure if I will really be able to travel again .
The intact prairie is wonderful, prairie dogs, burrowing owls, bison, gorgeous flowers, badlands and hardly any people. See: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/north-dakota/grand-canyon-nd/

Hey kevin
When you do make it to Louisiana try to buy back the land that was sold during the Louisiana purchase, please
Give it to NY or California - turn it blue.
Or better yet give it back to the French as an offering for screwing them out of a sub contract
Would be interesting to go through it but my guess is that giving la purchase to ny would just make a big red state , but probably giving it to ca would still leave it blue.

Joke from Standing Rock Reservation:
Custer's last words--as he saw the Sioux and Cheyenne riding up to overwhelm him, he told his men "Well, it's better than going back to North Dakota."
I've lived in South Dakota for 12 years now. I've never visited North Dakota.
Also on my no-visit list are Alaska, Idaho, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee.
"What excuse will I ever have for visiting Fargo?"
The point is: You do not need an excuse for not visiting Fargo (and many other places in this large country).
The Black Hills. And dniosaurs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleontology_in_North_Dakota).
But skip Mississippi. If you've been to Alabama, you've been to Mississippi, except with better schools.
I hope you visit New Orleans some day.
Yes, come visit us in the Big Easy. Great food, great music, great photo opportunities!
Been to all 50. Don't miss, as noted above, TRNP in North Dakota. It's the the ND Badlands and has a big herd of bison.
My wife and I live in a small town in Maine that is a tourist Mecca. Every summer we put up a small map of the US on our refrigerator and check off the state license plates as we see them around town. This year we are missing only ND and SD (excepting HI which I actually did get one year) so I’m guessing the feeling is mutual for those folks.
I have been to all you are missing execpt Alaska and I only lived in the US for six years. I have been to Prince Rupert, British Columbia whish is about 30 km (18m) from Alaska. I;ve also been to all of Canada;s provinces except Prince Edward Island and the NWT but not the Yukon or Nunavut. So many places still to go.
