Shitlist Update

It's a been a week and we still don't know the final status of my personal electoral shitlist. But things are looking good!

Alex Villanueva is 18% behind with 67% of the vote counted.

Scott Baugh is 2.6% behind with 70% of the vote counted.

Kari Lake is 1.1% behind with 93% of the vote counted.

Dr. Oz lost.

Ron Johnson won.

I suppose that four out of five isn't bad.

Johnson always feels like he's going to go down, but then a bunch of suburban Wisconsinite conservatives show up and push him over into victory.

He always seems like the dumbest man in the Senate. Maybe that's why he gets re-elected - someone like that isn't going to turn off people who originally voted for him.

Looking at the Journal-Sentinel I see:

      Evers (D) Gov -- 1,358,664

      RoJo (R) Sen -- 1,336,878
      Barnes (D) Sen -- 1,310,429

Just goes to show that ticket-splitting is alive and well when one of the candidates is non-white.

When the one is Ron Johnson, it is actually pretty bad.

Also even if Lake loses, the fact that she got even close is quite depressing. Same is true for many of the other (Walker, Laxalt etc.).

Thoughts on the results of the risky D strategy of funding extremist Rs during their primaries, to help out Ds in the general?

Reckless, stupid, too clever by half. Hitler would get at least 47% of the vote right now just by showing up (as would Bozo the Clown, for a less inflammatory example). Elevating candidates more like Hitler (or Bozo) in the primary on the theory that they will be easier to beat in the general gives them an unacceptably high probability of winning the general. Team D got away with it this time, but that doesn’t make it smart.
