Friday was an unusually clear night, so I hauled out my camera for a couple of quick photos. This is one of the sharpest pictures of the moon I've ever gotten.
FYI, my track record over the past week is: overcast skies at night, except when the moon is up and shining so brightly that clear skies don't matter. If Galileo had faced conditions like this he never would have discovered anything with his crummy little telescope.
You went out to see if you could catch the Perseid shower overlapping the Moon, didn't you?
But would that have prevented the investigation by the Roman Inquisition?
That's an excellent picture.
Thursday night I tried with my Lumix CD-ZS70, 20 mpx, 24-720mm (35mm Equivalent) and didn't get anything as crisp as Kevin.
In Kevin's picture the lunar mares really stand out.
I've been trying to get out for some Milky Way shots all summer, but if it's clear the moon is up. If the moon isn't up it's cloudy. Not much fun.
Fantastic pic!!!
