Today all my opponents wear teal

We have generative AI that can write a PhD thesis or create a photorealistic video of a protein unfolding, but this is what we use it for:

Mike Braun, the MAGA candidate for governor of Indiana, took an old photo of his Democratic opponent at a small rally and replaced all the signs her supporters were holding. For some reason, he also gave everyone teal jackets, which seems unrelated. But what do I know? Maybe teal is the secret token of Bilderburg overlordship understood only by those in the know.

As it happens, this might violate Indiana law, but I find it hard to take seriously. It's a sign of the times, if you'll pardon the pun. I think every MAGA politico in the country has followed their leader into gibbering idiocy.

Abject and blatant dishonesty has replaced covert and disguised dishonesty in the Republican party. The one thing Trump taught the GOP,
"People will just believe you. You just tell them and they believe you," I can't think of a better description of the modern day GOP and Trumps cult.

Peculiarly not everyone. The one lady in the back with the sunglasses. Her jacket is black. Regardless, it's a stupid and childish thing to do. Very Trump like. So typical of today's GOP.

Why is this called AI in the first place?

All of a sudden every new electronic capability is called AI. This looks like advanced photoshop to me. The "AI" did not choose the gas stove meme, humans did. And a patient enough person competent in retouching could have produced this picture a century ago (minus the color though).

Is this just Silicon Valley bluster or is it a deliberate campaign to distract from the very real dangers that real AI will pose when it is achieved? After all for the bosses AI's purpose number 1 is to make tons and tons of money--at the expense of everything else.

Anyway, this is NOT AI as it used to be understood only a couple of years ago.

in my mind, it depends on the tools used, how those tool work and were developed/trained and what level of manual work had to be done by a human. i don't know if this particular image was using AI editing tools or just a lowly human toiling away, but maybe kevin does.
