Workplace deaths were down slightly in 2023

Fatal occupational injuries were down by about 200 last year, representing a rate decline from 3.6 per 100,000 to 3.4.

As you can see, occupational deaths declined steadily through 2009 and then abruptly flatlined. There's been no progress since 2010. Here's how everything broke down in 2023:

Most of the deaths by violence were during robberies, but every year about a hundred people are killed either by a coworker or by their spouse showing up with a gun in their hand.

Trump and Elmer will gut OSHA and get rid of all those pesky safety and health regulations. Real men don't need all that safety bull shit anyway.

2010 is the rise of the Tea Party and the current "conservatism" that says that anything that helps Black or brown people is Socialism. Therefore, the GOP has fought every attempt to make workplaces safer, so I think a fair hypothesis here is that the Republicans are killing American workers so their benefactors can hoard more money.

I can see at least four causes:

    1. Changes in work due to technology. For example automated readings mean less transportation which seems to be inherently dangerous.

    2. Changes in mix of work. For example we have fewer factory workers and more office workers.

    3. General improvements in road safety.

    4. Workplace regulation.

Is there any information on what part of the reduction is due to regulatory changes / enforcement?
