Lunchtime Photo

You knew I'd get to it eventually, so why not today? This is the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, taken in panorama mode as usual for shots like this. I was happy that I happened to get a few seconds when there was no one at my end of the hall, and that's when I took the three floor-level images that form the bottom of the panorama.

One of my favorite pictures is a silly little cellphone pic of the hall with all my girls in it.

    A fantastic picture, yours.

This is a fantastically competent image of a very difficult subject...but brought vibrantly to full life by you. Kudos. Traveller

    Very nice shot.

But what did you think of the RL experience? IDK what Painedumonde thought of it, but, personally, I was disappointed. The mirrors are tarnished by time (unavoidable, I guess) and by countless scratches (i'd shoot on sight anyone caught scratching the things)!

Versailles in general feels old and tired... which is only fair since the items populating it are indeed 200+ years old. But the photos lie by making the color etc. look super vibrant when in reality, it's all pretty drab...

Actually Mr Mari, thanks for this assessment...I actually have never been and so thought this was perfectly true to life....this is not meant as a criticism of Mr Drum...but rather from other palaces I know exactly what Mr Mari means. So the refresher was good too....!
